The 12-month-long hiatus of "Doctor Who" will finally be over soon. Fortunately, all of the news, updates, rumors regarding new writers, new cast members, and more are ultimately revealed. Read on to find out.
As stated by BBC News, "Doctor Who" Season 10 won't air until spring 2017. This will be a first time in six years since Charlotte Moore, the controller of BBC One, has opted to launch "Doctor Who" full series to early 2017.
Steven Moffat will make an ultimate farewell as this will be his final show runner for "Doctor Who" Season 10. News has revealed that he will be making his Christmas special marking the end of 2017. Steven will hand down the Tardis key to Chris Chibnall, creator of "Broadchurch" 2018. Chris guarantees to be a safe pair of hands as he has been a regular writer of the "Doctor Who" for numerous shows.
Meanwhile, it may also be Peter Capaldi's final year on "Doctor Who." In record, this will be Peter's third series playing as the Doctor which is mostly equally long as David Tennant and Matt Smith. Peter mentioned in 2015, "This could be my final year - it's terrifying. I love 'Doctor Who,' but it can be quite an insular world and I do want to do other things."
Digital Spy has confirmed that Peter was later questioned to partake in "Doctor Who" Season 11 and said, "I've been asked to stay on, which is lovely - and I think Chris Chibnall's fantastic and a wonderful choice but I haven't made my mind up."
In addition, there will be no more Jenna Coleman as Clara. Jenna has insisted that she will not be recurring to "Doctor Who" for a good while. However, a new cast member, Pearl Mackie, will be the new "funny and geeky" companion for the upcoming season of "Doctor Who."
Pearl has described the new companion character as "cool, strong, sharp and a little bit vulnerable with a bit of geekiness thrown in." Plus, this has made Peter ecstatic as he welcomed Pearl Mackie to the cast where he said, "It is a genuine delight to welcome Pearl Mackie to 'Doctor Who.' A fine, fine actress with a wonderful zest and charm, she's a refreshing addition to the TARDIS and will bring a universe of exciting new possibilities to The Doctor's adventures."
In addition, Missy and Nardole are definitely returning to haunt the Doctor and some big guest stars on board for the upcoming "Doctor Who" Season 10. David Suchet as Poirot will appear as "The Landlord" and Ralf Little who has been cheeky in denying about his appearances on the show. Plus, Stephanie Hyam and Mina Anwar will likely to appear on "Doctor Who" Season 10.
"Doctor Who" Season 10 updates include new playwrights that will be joining the team. Moffat has hinted that Mike Barlett, creator of "Doctor Foster," may be in and another writer newbie, which is yet to be confirmed is penned to script for "Doctor Who" Season 10. Returning writers for the new "Doctor Who" Season 10 series will be Jamie Mathieson from "Flatline," Sara Dollard from "Face the Raven," and Frank Cottrell-Boyce from "In the Forest of the Night." Mark Gatiss may pen a sequel to "Sleep No More."
There will be grand plans for "Doctor Who" Season 10 and fans should expect fresh and different shades of the upcoming "Doctor Who" Season 10 as Chibnall will be the new head writer and executive producer of the show. Moffat has confirmed in 2015 that "Doctor Who" is definitely going to last five more years. "I've seen the business plan. It's not going anywhere. And I think we can go past that. It's television's own legend. It will just keep going," Moffat added.
