'Outlander' News And Updates: Caitriona Balf Wins At BAFTA Scotland; Sam Heughan Calls Her 'Wifey'

"Outlander" stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe were both nominated at the BAFTA Scotland Awards last Sunday, Nov. 6 for their roles as Jamie and Claire Fraser in the hit period drama. Balfe nabbed the Best TV Actress prize and it didn't take long for her leading man to congratulate her on Twitter.

Heughan even called the 37-year-old Balfe his "wifey," which of course alludes to their characters in "Outlander." In the show, Claire (Balfe) is a married British nurse in the 1940s who is mysteriously taken back to 18th century Scotland where she meets and falls in love with the Scottish laird Jamie (Heughan).

The show, which has just concluded its second season, has a massive following among TV viewers and naturally, fans are hoping for a real-life romance between Heughan and Balfe. However, the stars were quick to smash the rumors, as Heughan was seen at the awards night with another date, "Into the Woods" actress Mackenzie Mauzy.

Meanwhile, the wait for "Outlander" Season 3 is almost over, and spoilers suggest that the upcoming season will be even more exciting as Jamie and Claire embark on a voyage. The two lead stars currently are shooting separately and even though there is no romance between them, Heughan admitted that he misses working with his co-star.

"It's always hard when we're apart," Heughan told Vanity Fair. "She's a great person, great to come to work with, and a very good actress."

What do you think? Is a romance between the two actors possible? Can Heughan and Balfe end up like Jamie and Claire, or will they remain just friends in real life?

"Outlander" Season 3 is expected to air in 2017 on Starz. Stay tuned for more updates and spoilers!
