As the third season premiere of "Marco Polo" remains unconfirmed on Netflix, one cast member already knows what he's doing next. Leonard Wu, who played Orus on the period show, is joining James Cameron's new movie "Alita: Battle Angel." After all, the actor is not expected to return to "Marco Polo."
Playing Orus, the son of Kaidu (Rick Yune) and the sister of Khutulun (Claudia Kim), Leonard Wu's character is no longer a part of "Marco Polo" Season 3. Viewers might recall that Orus died during a battle against Kublai Khan's (Benedict Wong) army, with his head was crushed to pulp in the second season. The actor always knew his character won't be around on the show for a long time.
Leonard Wu, however, said that it might just as well be right that Orus was killed off in "Marco Polo" to make way for his TV sister's destiny. "It really services Khutulun's story and I'm really excited to see what they do for her in season 3," he told Carter Matt in an exclusive interview.
Netflix has not yet made any official announcements regarding the return of "Marco Polo" for Season 3. Fans have been waiting for confirmation ever since the last season was launched on the streaming site over the summer. The cast is also apparently eager to return to work, according to Joan Chen, who plays the Empress, per Parent Herald.
Meanwhile, now that he's free from his "Marco Polo" commitments Leonard Wu is doing a project with director James Cameron next. Variety reports that the actor will star in the film "Alita: Battle Angel," which is based off a manga created by Yukito Kishiro.
Leonard Wu will play a discarded cyborg in this dystopian film, who becomes a bounty hunter who goes after criminals. "Alita: Battle Angel" is expected to premiere on the big screen on July 2018.
