New ‘Metro’ Game Expected for 2017 Release According to “Metro 2035” Website: ‘Books End Their Story, the Game Will Pick It Up’

Following the soon-to-be released final installment of the book trilogy "Metro," its first-person shooter video game of the same name is expected to be released in 2017 according to the official for "Metro 2035." The timeline on the website states: "It all adds up to something. Where the books end their story, the game will pick it up. An area of great discoveries lies ahead...."

The "Metro 2035" website features a timeline of when Metro's books and video games were released, including the events of each one. If the new "Metro" game would be released following the book, then it sounds like the game would take place after the events of Metro 2035, which is set to be released in English on December 10, per PlayStation Universe.

According to WCCF Tech, the new "Metro" video game was probably one of another project that developer 4AGames had been working on aside from the awesome-looking VR game "Artika." However, 4AGames has not formally announced the new "Metro" a proper title and even a rapid search on their company website shows no mention about this new "Metro" game. But somehow, they had hinted game development in their last interviews.

"Metro" game was based on the trilogy novels of Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky. In the book, the story started right after World War III, when Russian citizens have taken refuge inside their underground subway system. This kept them safe from the radiation on the surface after being bombed to hell and back. Those citizens who lived underground used bullets as their currency and also had to defend themselves from the mutated monsters that were trying to eat them.

The last game series "Metro: Last Light," was released in 2013 and received a score of 9/10 in GameSpot's review. Critic Kevin VanOrd concluded that "Metro: Last Light" notably superior to its predecessor, merging storytelling, shooting, and sneaking into a remarkable whole.
