Caitlyn Jenner's docuseries "I Am Cait" had just premiered. However, there were reports that the ESPYs recipient was upset by her family's lack of support. According to a source close to the "Keeping up with the Kardashian" family member, Caitlyn was hurt when the show premiered because the entire family did not show eagerness in promoting her show, Radar Online has learned.
Caitlyn's eight-part docuseries that airs on E! was heavily supported by the network, but the former Olympian was surprised that her greatest fans, her children, did not do the same. The source told Radar Online, "She was really bothered by the fact that her family didn't show their support online on their Twitter or Instagram accounts like they do for Keeping up with the Kardashians, or for their own projects."
Moreover, in the premiere episode that aired the other night, Kourtney, Khloe and Rob Kardashian all refused to go on-camera to meet her for the first time after her transition. On the other hand, her step-daughter, Kim Kardashian, appeared several times throughout the debut, according to Radar Online.
The source also revealed that Caitlyn felt that her children were unfair for not taking the time to post a simple message on their social media accounts, but when it comes to their mother, Kris Jenner, they make sure everything is promoted.
As for Caitlyn's "I Am Cait" premiere episode, here are five things we learned to give you a recap, as per RollingStone.
1. Caitlyn was most worried about her mom's reaction.
Caitlyn acknowledged the tension in her first encounter with her mother and sisters. She was seen tapping her shoes and pacing back and forth while waiting for her family's arrival. However, things went smooth, but her mom has the most trouble adjusting. Caitlyn's mom, Esther, often uses the wrong pronoun, but like most mothers do, she is very accepting and supportive. "I loved [Bruce] with my whole heart, and I love her with my whole heart," Esther said, according to RollingStone.
2. She has already chosen the name Caitlyn even before her transition.
Jenner discussed with her mother and siblings how she came up with the name Caitlyn. She had decided to choose the name few years ago after a conversation with her assistant. She said when she talked to trans people about coming up with a female name, they advised her to ask her mother. Although it was not revealed if her mother actually mentioned the name, there were implications that she did.
3. Caitlyn was suicidal.
She admitted that she has gone through tough times. "I've been in my house with a gun and said, let's just end it right here," Caitlyn said. However, this time she wanted to encourage transgender men and women, particularly teenagers who are more prone to suicide. The episode showed Jenner joining the family of 14-year-old Kyler Prescott in a small memorial, releasing balloons in honor of Kyle's memory. Prescott committed suicide after being bullied because of the discrepancies of his name and gender in his birth certificate.
4. Caitlyn did not want to put on boy's clothing even as a kid.
Esther recalled that Jenner didn't like wearing boy's clothes. She always tried to pull it off. Esther asked their guest, Susan P. Landon, Director of the Los Angeles Gender Center, if those were signs about a child's gender preference. Landon was invited to help Esther and the viewers get comfortable with Caitlyn's new identity.
5. Kim and Kanye are among Caitlyn's most ardent fans.
In an interview with Diane Sawyer last April, Jenner admitted that among her children and step-children, Kim has been the most supportive. In fact, Kim showed up with her husband, Kanye West, on her set for "I Am Cait." Moreover, West offered her words of support that showed how he admires her, "You couldn't have been up against more...and it was still like, Fuck everybody, this is who I am."
