Actor Christopher Lloyd will be guest starring in an upcoming episode of "The Big Bang Theory" Season 10. Lloyd, best known for his role as the mad scientist Doc Brown from the "Back to the Future" franchise, is said to be taking on a mystery role in the episode airing on December 1. Fans are excited to know, will they see a time travel theme in the sitcom?
"The Big Bang Theory" producers announced Lloyd's guesting and expressed their excitement over the episode, the Daily Mail reports. The top-rating sitcom is known for its references to geek culture such as Star Wars, so fans are expecting that it will give homage to the time-travelling plot of "Back to the Future," or a nod to Doc Brown's eccentric inventor character.
No word yet on Lloyd's role in the episode but the news came hot in the heels of the announcement that CBS is developing a teenaged Sheldon Cooper spin-off, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. It is possible that the special episode with Lloyd might give fans a sneak peek at the new spin-off through a time travel scene.
Although still in development stage, it is confirmed that no actor from the original show will star in the spin-off as the new show will serve as a prequel. However, actor Jim Parsons, who is playing Sheldon Cooper, is slated to be an executive producer. No doubt that Parsons has a huge influence on both shows as he is one of the top-earning actors on Hollywood TV, raking in a cool USD$1 million per episode, alongside co-stars Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki.
