"The Last Kingdom" Season 2 is still in production, but fresh spoilers tease of what fans can expect from BBC One's historical drama series. Young Ragnar will be focused on revenge for his father and family. Could his thirst for vengeance make him more in conflict with Uhtred?
In a video released by the producers of "The Last Kingdom," Tobias Santelmann talked about his character, Young Ragnar. The actor shared some details on what fans can expect from him when "The Last Kingdom" returns for its sophomore season next year.
According to Tobias Santelmann, Young Ragnar will be keeping his eyes on taking revenge for the death of his father and the rest of his family. In "The Last Kingdom" Season 2, he will seek revenge against those that betrayed his father with or without help from anybody.
But he won't like go alone. The Danes would have his back. Tobias Santelmann further revealed that in "The Last Kingdom" Season 2, Young Ragnar would become a leader of the Danes more than Guthrum (played by Thomas W. Gabrielsson). Guthrum and Young Ragnar became equal in the first season. Next season, Guthrum would be much interested in the Catholic religion, which would make him lose his leadership of the Danes.
However, Uhtred (played by Alexander Dreymon), is also on a mission to take revenge for his own father. He was raised as Danes, and Young Ragnar treated him like a brother. But Uhtred has joined the Saxons and pledged his sword to King Alfred (played by David Dawson). Their individual mission could bring them again in more conflict against each other.
Meanwhile, latest photos from the set of "The Last Kingdom" Season 2 have been released on the show's official Instagram accounts. The photos reveal some scenes during a night shooting, although it is hard to tell what is actually going on.
"The Last Kingdom" will premiere on BBC Two and on Netflix in the United States in 2017.
