Why An Uncle's Importance Can't Be Dismissed When It Comes To Parenting

Even though parents are the most important figures when it comes to children's education, the influence of other close relatives in this process cannot be denied. Quite salient figures in this regard are uncles whose role in the development of their nephews is fundamental to the very core.

It's rightly said that uncles are like second fathers. They really are father-figures who decrypt a child's thoughts just by looking into their eyes and understand what they're up to.

According to P&G Everyday, uncles can be the perfect solution to provide all the care of the little ones in the house. As with grandparents, they are usually a better choice for staying in charge of children while in the absence of parents. But even then, who has to do all the work? That's right, the child's uncle.

In addition, the uncles must also be a responsible figure facing their nephews. Although with a little more flexibility than parents, these relatives should always show up in front of their nephews as someone responsible who follows the established rules. The Huffington Post suggests that uncles should never contradict a child's parents in front of the child nor question the parents' way of educating or imparting life-essential skills.

By not being able to possess the authority of a real parent over children, uncles are prone to have a small fraction of their relationship with a child as a mature friend or a mentor who's always there to guide the tender mind of a child. This makes children open up more to uncles than parents.

As a result, the little ones tend to get a bit too attached to their uncles who open their arms to them for sharing problems, feelings and episodes of restlessness. In this regard, uncles can be great allies for a child's parents!
