When Tony Stark donned the red suit eight years ago, Robert Downey Jr. sculpted every aspect of who "Iron Man" is. Yet recently, fans felt betrayed when Robert Downey Jr. decided not to take this iconic role to the next level in "Iron Man 4" and chose to move on to his lead role in the upcoming movie "Sherlock Holmes 3".
Not long ago, we've seen Robert Downey Jr. on ABC's "Nightline" show confirm that he would be willing to return as Tony Stark in "Iron Man 4". Viewers have seen how dedicated Robert Downey Jr. played the role in the past three "Iron Man" movies and undoubtedly find anyone to surpass his bravado in acting as Tony Stark.
We've got reasons to believe that if Robert Downey Jr. doesn't play the part as Tony Stark in "Iron Man 4", then his fans would rather not watch the sequel than have another actor play the role. This became a major concern when rumors spread about Marvel Studios planning to replace Robert Downey Jr. with a younger actor.
However, chances of "Iron Man 4" to be on production narrowed down when Robert Downey Jr. also took the main role as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, a British detective, in "Sherlock Holmes 3". At that moment, fans were left wondering how Robert Downey Jr. would be able to manage his schedule to act in both "Iron Man 4" and "Sherlock Holmes 3'.
In a recent report online by ChristianTimes, Robert Downey Jr. agreed to start filming "Sherlock Holmes 3" after he is done with the upcoming movie "Avengers: Infinity War". It appears that Robert Downey Jr. is telling his fans that "Iron Man 4" is not his priority at all.
For whatever reasons Robert Downey Jr. has and regardless how the production for "Iron Man 4" would progress, his fans would certainly want him back as Tony Stark. Though nothing has been confirmed yet but one thing is for sure, we'll be seeing more of Robert Downey Jr. in the upcoming "Avenger" movies as the "Iron Man".
