Billy Bob Thornton was interviewed by GQ magazine recently and he talked about his marriage with Angelina Jolie as well as his insecurities possibly being the reason why their relationship did not work out. He pointed out that he never felt that he was good enough for her due to her saint-like ways.
E! News reported that Billy Bob Thornton and Angelina Jolie had a short-lived marriage but it was highly publicized. In the November 2016 issue of GQ magazine, the actor said that their different lifestyle choices contributed greatly to the 2003 divorce of the then-couple.
During the time that Angelina Jolie was married to Billy Bob Thornton, she was in her mid-20s and was named as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador. For the next 10 years, she went on to embark on field missions more than 40 times to support refugees from all over the world. Billy Bob Thornton said that while Angelina Jolie went out of her way to fulfill her responsibilities, he was more concerned about his life at home.
The now-61-year-old actor shared, "I never felt good enough for her. I'm real uncomfortable around rich and important people." He also noted that Angelina Jolie never pressured him to change for her nor did he feel the pressure to change who he is because he likes who he is.
Vanity Fair also reported that Billy Bob Thornton's constant feeling of insecurity led to the demise of their relationship. He and Angelina Jolie have been divorced for more than a decade now and the actor said they are still on good terms.
Months before they divorced, Billy Bob Thornton and Angelina Jolie announced they applied to adopt a child from Cambodia. She went on to adopt her eldest son, now 15 years old, Maddox. She has five more children with her estranged husband, Brad Pitt.
After his divorce from Angelina Jolie, Billy Bob Thornton married his sixth wife, Connie Angland. They have a 12-year-old daughter named Bella.
