"At 150 pounds, I feel like I'm at my healthiest and my strongest and my most beautiful," Undefeated UFC Women's Bantamweight Champ, Ronda Rousey, brags about her 15-pound weight gain for her 2015 Sports Illustrated swimsuit magazine pose.
E! Online reports that the athlete did not feel so well in a 135-pound weight as she reveals in an interview with Cosmopolitan. "I felt like I was much too small for a magazine that is supposed to be celebrating the epitome of a woman," Rousey said.
While most women strive to lose weight than gain some, Ronda is still flaunting some great shape even with some extra pounds added. Ronda admitted that in her younger years, she struggled to accept her body type being athletic and "uncommon."
"I grew up thinking that because my body type was uncommon, it was a bad thing," she explained. "Now that I'm older, I've really begun to realize that my body has developed for a purpose and not just to be looked at."
Besides reigning the UFC, Rousey, 28, has also appeared in "The Expendables 3," "Furious 7" and "Entourage," where she played herself, according to E! Online.
Having been known to be fearless inside the ring, Ronda seems to have some fear when it comes to spiders and heights. Admitting this, she added, "I'm scared of failure so much more than any of the other girls I compete against that I work so much harder than they possibly could. I go to bed every night thinking about all the possible ways that I can succeed."
In her interview with Cosmopolitan, Ronda also talked about her life outside the ring. "I like to sit and listen to everything going on in the room, and I don't move off the couch," she said. "I'm the most chill couch potato you could ever meet. I just like to hang out with my dog and watch 'Planet Earth' documentaries, play Taichi Panda [laughs]. I'm actually really lame, to be honest. I don't party at all, and I'm pretty lame to hang out with," she added.
Rousey also admited that she is not the best model, but she tried her best to look comfortable in the pictures, E! Online reports.
As for the Sports Illustrated swimsuit photos, Ronda comments in a separate E! Online report, "I hope that the impression that everyone that sees the next Sports Illustrated swimsuit is that strong and healthy is the new sexy, that the standard of women's bodies is going into a realistic and socially healthy direction."
Rousey is this year's awardee for ESPY's Best Fighter and Best Female Athlete, according to SB Nation.
