"Fast and Furious 8" is gearing up more female cast members, according to the latest casting rumors.
It all started with a suggestion from one of the show's stars, Michelle Rodriguez, who said the movie needed to show more female power just like "Mad Max: Fury Road." She told Metro, "You have to think holistically and look for the broader audiences. And I don't like hating on guys to make women powerful. I think you can do both. Mad Max is proof of that."
Following her lead, the show is reportedly bringing back Eva Mendes from "Fast and Furious 6" to reprise her role as Agent Monica Fuentes. Her character is going to get really close with Vin Diesel's character, Dominic, the report said. This reunion is expected to cause a friction with Rodriguez's character, Letty the mechanic, as it looks like a possible love triangle is being cooked up.
Meanwhile, "Orange Is the New Black's" Australian breakout star, Ruby Rose, is reportedly joining the latest franchise as well after failing to make the cut during the auditions for "Furious 7" because she apparently looked lot like Justin Bieber. "It's so funny because now I'm in talks with that movie and I haven't mentioned to them that I know [they turned my down because I looked like Justin]," the actress told Daily Mail.
Also rumored to return is UFC champ Ronda Rousey, who once told MTV that she wants fellow UFC champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk to be in the film as well, as her nemesis. "She's really tiny and skinny, but she's such a little ninja! I think it would be such a cool addition - someone who looks really unassuming. I know I look good in a Herve Leger dress, but I also look like I could still kill you in it, and Joanna doesn't!" Rousey said.
Vin Diesel also agrees with these female castings and even suggested Helen Mirren for the role of the main villain for "Furious 8," according to Cinema Blend. They wouldn't have any problems convincing the dame to come aboard, though, as she has expressed she does want to be part of it.
"My great ambition is to be in a Fast and Furious movie. I so want to be a mad driver in a Fast and Furious movie. My claim to fame is I always do my own driving - I was on Top Gear, and I did [my lap] in a very good time. I keep putting it out there, and they never ask me. I'll be in Fast and Furious 8," Mirren said via Yahoo.
