Twitter announced last October that Vine will be closed down since it wants to focus on its core business. However, considering the Vine users, the company said that it will give enough time for users to download their videos.
Vine is a short form video creator site that is similar to YouTube, Instagram and Snapchat. However, Vine has been declining for the past few years because users tend to shift to other apps most especially with other features offered according to Inquirer.
After the announcement made by twitter, it was not yet confirmed when the exact date Vine will be shut down. According to PC World, there are speculations that Twitter will sell Vine to a third party so that it will be given a new life.
Since it was still not certain and no one is sure when it will close down, it is better to save your videos to back up your memories. PC World introduced two ways on how to save your videos from Vine, provided that your account is private.
First is by using the Giphy application. Your short videos will become animated GIFS that will be hosted publicly on Giphy. The source, as well as the sound, will remain intact.
All you need to do is to log in or to sign up (if you don't have Giphy account yet) and drop in the URL of the video you wish to save.
However, you should be aware that the videos that could be saved by Giphy are those which are created by you.
The second option is to utilize a social media site from 9GAG that allows hosting animated GIFs. RIPVine.co allows you to grab everything from your account. Yes, everything even if you just re-shared the videos.
On a good note, the process for saving the videos is just simple. You no longer need your RIPVine.co account, instead your Vine account.
It is better to be prepared than to be sorry for all the memories you created in Vine. Save your videos now using the two options.
