The MacBook Air was Apple's slimmest and lightest laptop offering. Meanwhile, Apple's MacBook Pro lineage was historically bigger, made to match its bulky internals. But Apple's 2016 models presents the new MacBook Pro era. How do we choose between these two brilliant Apple toys?
New Atlas puts the two MacBook models against each other in an epic Mac battle. In terms of size, the Pro is smaller than Air with its 212 mm x 302 mm x 14.9 mm dimensions. MacBook Air measures a little bigger at 232 mm x 312 mm x 23 mm.
In terms of weight, the smaller Pro weighs 20 grams heavier than the Air. Apple built both MacBook models using Apple's signature aluminum body. MacBook Pro comes in two colors, silver and space gray. MacBook Air was only produced in silver.
Both models feature a 13.3-inch wide display. The new MacBook Pro is more advanced in display resolution with a 2560 x 1600 227 ppi specs over the 1440 x 900 128 ppi offering of the MacBook Air.
Meanwhile, Macworld focused on the touch differences of the two models. MacBook Pro features the Touch Bar option, Apple's latest proprietary input technology, which replaces the traditional Fn keys of the former keyboard. The Touch Bar also comes with a fitted Touch ID Fingerprint Sensor.
Pro features the new Intel Iris which significantly enhanced its graphics. The Pro models also feature a 16GB RAM and a 1TB storage. However, the Pro models completely lost the traditional USB ports and SD card slot. The MacBook Air got 2 USB ports and a card slot.
