Russian President Vladimir Putin sent his compliments via telegram to the United States President-elect Donald Trump early Wednesday. This act was made amidst the divisive election that stunned both domestic and international audience.
According to Fox News, Donald Trump has garnered 289 votes from the "electoral college." overriding the Democrat Hillary Clinton. Clinton has 218, contrary to the surveys conducted prior to the national polling last November 8.
With high regards to the results of the election, the Kremlin (Pentagon's counterpart) articulates its optimism on the concern vis-à-vis. This to mend the souring ties between the two countries now that it has elected Donald Trump whom significantly characterized by Kremlin adviser, Sergie Glaszev, "pragmatic".
Vladimir Putin, however, concedes that none of it will come handily. In a report released by TIME, he was quoted saying that he recognize and understand that this will not be an easy road given the level to which Russia-US relations have degraded.
During the electoral campaign Donald Trump had repeatedly divulged his willingness to make strings of concessions on some issues confronting both Washington and Moscow. He fundamentally takes into account tendering US presence in Eastern Europe which will also be complimented by a foreign policy that would lift sanctions imposed towards Russia following the Crimean crisis in 2014.
Donald Trump also expressed his willingness to pull-out NATO troops in the region citing the organization as "obsolete." He advised countries within the range to "pay more attention for their own defense".
This could extend to the withdrawal of American missile defense in Eastern Europe. Political analyst Alexander Rahr suggested in the same way the "Poles and Baltic" states have to "put their tail between their legs and adjust to the new situation". Apparently, if materialized, political change is underway for the countries concerned.
Nevertheless, Vladimir Putin anticipates ties based on principle of equality, mutual respect, and a real accounting of each other's position, a king of diplomacy which two previous US presidents he accused failure since he came into power. Meanwhile, Russia have not yet officially pronounce any foreign policy bargain to the United States.
