After three videos were released for three consecutive weeks, the Los Angeles California Supreme Court ordered a temporary restraining order against pro-life and anti-abortion group, Center for Medical Progress (CMP). CMP claims that they still have nine videos ready for release, according to Lifesite News.
Earlier this month, CMP released a video of Planned Parenthood Director, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, where she was seen talking with a biotechnological firm, Stem Express, discussing the alleged selling of fetal body parts. The U.S. Courts investigated the operations of the said abortion-assisting company and had citizens signing a petition to defund the said organization from its annual federal funding.
Stem Express, on the other hand, sought a restraining order against CMP for violating California's anti-wiretapping law, the Invasion of Privacy Act.
Despite this act, CMP believes that the biotech firm is "attempting to use meritless litigation to cover-up this illegal baby parts trade, suppress free speech, and silence the citizen press reporting on issues of burning concern to the American public," Washington Times has learned.
The latest video of CMP showed a woman named Holy O'Donnell, a former employee from Stem Express. She said she was hired to "draw blood and dissect dead fetuses and sell the parts to researchers."
O'Donnel further testified in the Washington Times report, "The harder and more valuable the tissue, the more money you get. So if you can somehow procure a brain or a heart, you're going to get more money than just chorionic villi or umbilical cord. That's basically what it is. So I guess that's an incentive to try and get the hard stuff."
Lifesite News stated that CMP responded to the TRO by saying that Stem Express was using "meritless litigation" and suppressing freedom of speech. Given that the TRO would last until August 19, CMP stated that they could still release a dozen of videos to add up to those first released on July 13.
The TRO only restricted videos that feature Stem Express employees. However, videos with employees from Planned Parenthood could still be shown to the public.
Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood denied the allegations of selling these body parts to researchers.
Planned Parenthood is an organization, which assists women in undergoing legal and safe abortion as well as getting other non-abortion care like sexually transmitted disease testing and treatment, prenatal care and use of contraceptives.
