The Undertaker, who is making a return to Smackdown Live in it's 900th episode landmark on Tuesday, is rumored to face John Cena for The Undertaker's retirement match in next year's Wrestlemania 33 PPV. Speculations also suggest that if The Undertaker will be unfit for Wrestlemania 33, Cena will face a different opponent, and carry on to win his 16th WWE title belt.
The Undertaker, who is known for his distinct demeanor based on the theme of death, has been a wrestling icon for a very long time. He has attracted large crowds from all over the world because of his unique style and charisma.
According to Hall of Fame Magazine, if the Undertaker-Cena bout materializes, no WWE title will be put on the line. The Undertaker's last appearance in the WWE was in the Wrestlemania 32 PPV wherein he faced Shane McMahon in a Hell in a Cell match. In a separate report by International Business Times, it is stated that Cena was scheduled to face The Undertaker in Wrestlemania 32, before he suffered a shoulder injury.
For many, an Undertaker-Cena match up at Wrestlemania 33 would be interesting since Cena has been the face of the WWE franchise for quite a while, while The Undertaker is a living legend who has won 23 of his 24 matches at Wrestlemania. Furthermore, The Undertaker and Cena have never faced each other in a Wrestlemania PPV event.
The Undertaker has not regularly appeared in the WWE since 2010. At 51 years old, it is unlikely that The Undertaker will be scheduled for another match before Wrestlemania 33 aside from a possible bout at Tuesday's 900th episode of SmackDown Live.
Besides John Cena, other wrestlers linked to a match with The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 33 are Sting and Randy Orton. Who do you think will face The Undertaker at next year's Wrestlemania 33? Let us know in the comments section down below!
