Anna Kendrick didn't think there would be an audience for "Pitch Perfect" other than the nerds. The actress, who led the cast in two "Pitch Perfect" blockbusters, couldn't believe that the movie would be a hit and that a third film is on its way.
Anna Kendrick thought that when she initially read the script for the first "Pitch Perfect," she knew only a handful of people would appreciate it. But the movie ended up becoming the "second highest-earning musical comedy of all time," according to E! Online.
The 31-year-old star, who got her start on Broadway, thought that the success of "Pitch Perfect" -- the movie and its soundtrack -- was weird. "I think it was a real testament to the nerdery that exists in the world," the actress told E!
She was even more puzzled that the "Pitch Perfect" audience loved her "Cups" song from the first movie. She told Today that this was actually her audition piece. "They liked it so much, they put it in the movie," Anna Kendrick said, referring to the producers of the film. "Cups" became a chartbuster and received over 310 million views on YouTube, which the actress thinks is pretty cool.
The third installment of "Pitch Perfect" is set to begin filming so that it meets its December 2017 theater release. IB Times Australia recently talked with Anna Kendrick's co-star Rebel Wilson, who said that the upcoming "Pitch Perfect" would be the "best one of the franchise."
Aside from Kendrick and Wilson, also expected to be back for "Pitch Perfect" 3 are Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Hailee Steinfeld and Elizabeth Banks. The latter actress also serves as producer for the movie and she directed the second movie in the franchise.
"Pitch Perfect" 3 would be directed by Trish Shie. New faces are expected to also be introduced in the follow-up movie. Check back to this site for the updates.
