The four-time NBA MVP superstar LeBron James was not happy after hearing a racist comment from the all-time coaching champion and currently New York Knicks president Phil Jackson. The incident happened when Phil Jackson called one of LeBron James's business partners as his "posse" in an interview published by ESPN on Monday.
According to USA Today, Phil Jackson was featured in a Q&A on ESPN earlier this week. The interview was about how it hurt the Miami Heat when LeBron James signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
All-time coach Phil Jackson said that the Miami Heat felt really bad when they lost LeBron and that was definitely a slap in the face for them. But when LeBron was still playing with the Heat, there was an incident that they went to Cleveland and he wanted to spend the night there, which the team doesn't do overnights, and because of this incident, it made Coach Erik leave miserably.
Phil said that LeBron can't hold up the whole team because he and his mom and his "posse" want to spend an extra night in Cleveland.
Yahoo news reported that by using the word "posse" in a recent interview to describe the NBA super start James's business associates, James said that he lost all respect for Jackson and his comments underlying a larger societal issue for young African-Americans trying to succeed in business.
James said that he doesn't think that Phil Jackson would have called them a "posse." But it just shows how young African-Americans have been looked down. James had put together a great team and he empowered some of his childhood friends. James and his friend will not let Phil Jackson's comments stop them from accomplishing great things in life and that comment will just give them another extra motivation. But the sad part is that there are still many people at the top that always want to try to put people like them down.
LeBron James even said further: "If you go and read the definition of what the word 'posse' is, it's not what I've built over my career." "It's not what I stand for. It's not what my family stands for," added the superstar player.
Do you think Phil Jackson is a racist? Or was he just being careless with his comments? Did LeBron James get the wrong impression?
But as we all know, racism and discrimination were always major issues, especially now with a new administration.
