Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy wanted the Packers to be more aggressive on the offense. In order to do that, they need a firm running back. Mike had claimed that with Christine Michael on the field, he can bridge the gap.
ESPN reported that the Green Bay Packers are the only NFL team without any rushing touchdown by a running back this season.
However, the Green Bay Packers had finally claimed the running back Christine Michael off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks made a surprise decision when they cut off Michael on Tuesday, the 26-year-old tailback started this season with only seven out of nine games.
According to NFL, the reason for cutting Christine Michael out from the Seahawks was because he had an issue with a few members of the staff, that they couldn't trust Michael to make the proper run reads. Michael had only carried and earned just five totes over the past two outings after averaging 16.4 carries his previous five games.
Christine Michael was the second running back that the Green Bay Packers have acquired from another team this season. They had already traded for Knile Davis last month but then cut off Davis after only two weeks.
The Green Bay Packers have also some shuffled through running backs with injuries to Starks and Eddie Lacy. While the Rookie Don Jackson will be their backup, the Green Bay Packers receiver Ty Montgomery will handle the rest.
Christine Michael joked with the media that he always wanted to run the ball more but he also wanted to throw it to others over 55 times too. He also explained that he has to run the football and that's how the game will always be.
Christine Michael said: "Everything starts with running the football. I just can't extend your offensive line and your pass-protection unit the way we have. Running the football is very important for a number of different reasons that everyone already knows."
Christine Michael will have his first game with the Green Bay Packers On Sunday against the Washington Redskins.
Do you think Christine Michael can really change the Packers running back carousel?
