Versatile actor Simon Pegg, who starred in hit movies, "Star Trek" and "Mission: Impossible," will soon be part of the new franchise of the epic space opera, "Star Wars." He admitted that he was a massive "Star Wars" fan and showed his familiarity with the movie during an interview with MTV, when he was asked to rank all six "Star Wars" films from worst to best within a minute.
The "Shaun of the Dead" star listed the six installments of "Star Wars" from worst to best as follows, giving a short description as to why he did so.
6. "Episode II: Attack of the Clones"
Pegg stressed that many believed this film was better than "The Phantom Menace;" but not for him. In fact, he thought that it was the worst.
5. "Episode I: The Phantom Menace"
Ranking this as second worst, the English actor and comedian reasoned out, "The Phantom Menace was incredibly disappointing...we all know that because we went to see it and we all cried and it destroyed our life," MoviePilot has learned.
4. "Episode III: Revenge of Sith"
In the MTV interview, the actor referred to it as the "best of the bad bunch."
"At least there was some connection to the first three films, which saved it for me, even though it was another large mess," he further explained,
3. "Episode VI: Return of the Jedi"
Pegg loves this installment, but considers it lesser than the three.
2. "Episode IV: A New Hope"
He described this as "controversial" but lacks the qualities his favorite has.
1. "Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back"
This tops Pegg's list, to which he exclaimed, " in terms of artistry and just sheer balls, Empire Strikes back would be my favorite."
When asked by Josh Horowitz if he has something more to say, the "Spaced" comedian announced, "I hate the prequels" and then laughs. A statement, which according to The Independent, many would probably agree.
Business Insider reported that the upcoming "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" would bring a lot of money, which some analysts estimated would be about $2.2 billion.
"As expectations begin to ramp/get framed for 'Star Wars' we look at how to benchmark the film compared to 'Avatar' and some of the other recent global blockbusters," Stifel analysts, Benjamin Mogil and Kevin Lee Hong Siong, wrote in a note to clients. "In aggregate, we believe that the film can gross around $2.2bn globally."
Will the movie earn that huge fortune? Let us see. "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will be released on December 18, 2015, in IMAX format.
