Good news for "X-Men" fans, "X-Men: Apocalypse" comes this 2016 with new characters.
Den of Geek reports that Olivia Munn will be playing the role of Psylocke alongside the cast of the "X-Men First Class" franchise. Director Bryan Singer ushered the reveal using Instagram. He wrote, "Excited to welcome @oliviamunn as Betsy Bradock! #Psylocke."
Psylocke, who is well-known within the comic community as a deadly assassin, uses her mutant powers of telepathy and telekinesis along with her martial arts skills.
Munn posted a recent video in her Instagram, showing off her hard work behind-the-scenes to capture that aspect of her character.
Munn is preparing for her role. Good Housekeeping says that for months, the actress has been "logging grueling two-hour workouts to get into superhero shape."
As reported by Z Living, Munn also gives credit to hypnotism for her new-found love for exercise. It also helped her with her battle against OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) and Trichotillomania.
According to the Trichotillomania Learning Center, Trichotillomania is a disorder that causes people to pull out hair from different parts of their body, resulting in noticeable bald patches.
"I was going to a hypnotist to help me with my OCD and trichotillomania. One day I told him I didn't work out, and he said, 'What do you mean?' I replied, 'I don't know. I just kind of don't. I yo-yo.' He said, 'You have to! It's good for your anxiety and depression.' So during one of our sessions, he hypnotized me," said Munn, in an interview with Good Housekeeping.
Talking about what hypnotism did to her fitness routine, she says, "I'm not exaggerating: That [hypnotism session] on a Friday, and by Monday I was working out every day at 6 am."
"If I missed a session, I'd double up and do it the next day," she adds.
She'll need that exercise as her character Psylocke is a physically active mutant. "Now I feel so much stronger. I remember running up the steps one day and thinking, 'This is strange. I could do this a hundred times and be totally OK,'" she further shares via Good Housekeeping.
Munn will be making the official live action debut of the famous character. Psylocke is the third psychic mutant to be presented in the movie, alongside young Charles Xavier, played by James McAvoy, and young Jean Grey, played by Sophie Turner.
