One of the younger sons of United States Representative John Conyers Jr., Democrat-Detroit, is reportedly missing. The FBI is now involved in the search in Texas. The son is identified as 21-year-old Carl Conyers.
The Houston Police Department said in a statement that Carl was last seen by his roommate on Tuesday afternoon in their apartment. He reportedly shaved his beard before he went missing. It was unclear if he intentionally shaved his beard before he was nowhere to be found, New York Daily News reported.
A woman named Deisha Lewis, 20 years old, claimed that she is the girlfriend of Carl and that he has had his beard for quite a long time. Carl last texted Lewis at around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. He reportedly told her he was kind of tired and that he was on his way to class.
Lewis regarded Carl's text about being tired to be normal. However, by Tuesday evening, Lewis said that she did not receive any messages from him and that was quite unusual. He also failed to show up for his work at his on-campus job on Wednesday. Lewis added, "We don't have any leads. We don't have anything."
Also on Wednesday morning, Carl reportedly sent messages on Twitter to some of his friends. He asked them to meet him on campus but when they got there, there was no trace of Carl. Lewis believed that someone might have made him send the messages via Twitter. Some of Carl's things were also said to be missing from his apartment and these included clothes, his debit card and his ID.
U.S. Representative John Conyers Jr. is said to be very worried about the whereabouts of his son because his disappearance is unlikely. He also believes that Carl is a very stable young guy.
Meanwhile, Carl's mom Monica arrived in Houston on Thursday and released a statement appealing for the safe return of her son, Freep reported.
Carl is 6 feet tall, weighs 145 pounds and has black hair. Carl and Lewis are both students at the University of Houston. Anyone who has information about the whereabouts of Carl Conyers is urged to call Houston Police Department at (713) 884-3131.
