'Pokémon Go' Generation 2 Updates: Leaked Release Date, Pokemon Trading System and New Monsters

A leaked image circulating in the web last Thursday hints that "Pokémon Go" Generation 2 is set to be released on December 7, 2016. Can fans expect new Pokémons in this highly anticipated update?

Last Thursday, Niantics released a system update to 0.47.1 version for the Android and 1.17.0 for iOS just a day after a photo of an internal memo regarding a leaked "Pokémon Go" Gen 2 release date was posted by an alleged Starbucks employee. In the said memo, it seems that Starbucks has partnered with game developer Niantics for an upcoming event for the launch of the second version of "Pokémon Go" in December.

Many "Pokémon Go" fans have been waiting for this update ever since there was a confirmation that new Pokémons will be introduced in "Pokémon Go" Gen 2. According to Forbes, a recent update by Niantics added 100 new Pokémon for the next generation in the Pokédex data, including evolutions for Pokémons already in the current game.

Introducing that many new Pokémons could mean more of a sequel to the game rather than a mere update. This made fans more excited about the "Pokémon Go" Gen 2 the launch date.

However, speculations regarding the leaked date is yet to be confirmed as people on Reddit were quick to point out that the memo was referring to "Pokeman Version 2," a clear misspelling of the name of the mobile app. This could also mean that the Starbucks memo might be referring to a different launch, one that is not connected to "Pokémon Go" Generation 2 at all.

In addition, the likelihood of "Pokémon Go" Generation 2 rolling out in December is quite slim according to Inquistr. This is due to a number of monsters that are still missing from Generation 1. The article added that players may want to look out for the release of the Pokémon Trading System more since it has been added in the game codes for months now.

Although the additional 100 new Pokémons are definitely coming, there's no concrete evidence that Starbucks and Niantics are brewing a partnership for the launch of "Pokémon Go" Generation 2 on December 7. So fans may just have to wait for a while.
