Will fans of "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" still see Ezra Miller's Credence in the sequel? Those who have already watched the movie written by "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling are wondering about his character's fate.
This article contains spoilers. Please read only if you have seen "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" in theaters. The movie opened on Friday, Nov 18, in the United States.
As shown on "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," Credence had been ordered killed by the Aurors because his immense but uncontrolled power as the Obscurus was a threat to everyone. He was vanquished in his non-physical form. His body was never directly killed off.
A scene that was missing from "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" reveals Credence, in his human body, was supposed to be getting on a boat with Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) to leave New York at the end of the movie, according to Cinema Blend. "But we cut that, because we didn't want to have it be such an, 'Ahhh, here we go,'" producer David Heyman said.
Ezra Miller is also unsure if his character will be back for the "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" sequel. He told an audience during the movie's press day that he's counting on being asked back for the next film. But at this point, the actor can only say that he doesn't really know anything yet, according to Bustle.
However, the "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" sequel has already cast Johnny Depp for the very significant role of Gellert Grindelwald, the darkest wizard to exist. His participation was actually revealed at the end of the first film.
Grindelwand was on the hunt for the Obscurus in "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." Thus, this storyline hints that it might yet be over for Ezra Miller/Credence after all.
"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" has already been confirmed for four more installments with David Yates directing all of movies, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Even before the film premiered, J.K. Rowling is reportedly finished with the script for the sequel as well.
