"The Good Fight" has cast a potential boyfriend for Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo). As the spinoff to "The Good Wife" sets its course, the showrunners reveal that there will be a shift in its tone to reflect a Trump-era culture.
"The Good Fight" will open a year after "The Good Wife" ended with Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) joining Lucca Quinn in a new firm in Chicago. The show has rounded up its cast with new leads and with many former "Good Wife" actors reprising their roles.
The latest cast addition to "The Good Fight" is Justin Bartha, who will play Colin from the State Attorney's office. His character is being primed to become Lucca Quinn's romantic lead, but they will have to battle it out in the court first.
"What we love about Justin: He can play all three - the comedy and the sexuality," the showrunners for "The Good Fight" said in a statement, per The Hollywood Reporter. "But he's also convincing as a tough intellectual foe to Cush Jumbo in court," Robert and Michelle King added.
Filming for "The Good Fight" is already underway as the show's 10 episodes are going to be released in the streaming platform CBS All Access in February 2017. The Kings said that aside from the new actors and a new chapter for its former "The Good Wife" characters, viewers could also expect a shift in the tone of the show.
The showrunners are excited about discussing a Trump presidency in "The Good Fight," which opens up a lot of possibilities. The writers could delve into storylines that could be "possibly accepting of a cruder culture," Robert King told Variety.
Aside from Christine Baranski, Cush Jumbo and Justin Bartha, "The Good Fight" also stars former "Game of Thrones" actress Rose Leslie as Diane Lockhart's niece. Erica Tazel, Bernadette Peters and Delroy Lindo are also the new additions to the spinoff series, while Sarah Steele, Zach Grenier and Gary Cole will reprise their "Good Wife" roles.
