Google's Nougat Operating System is making its presence felt among Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and right down the line is Samsung. The South Korean tech firm recently rolled out the Nougat update in several of its devices like the Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge, and it keeps on adding new names to the list.
Android Pit has it that Samsung is working on updating that Galaxy S6 with the Nougat firmware. The Smartphone was, over the past weeks, spotted on GFXBench and, true to form, sporting an Android 7.0 Operating System. This may just be a speck of bigger things to come in the near future, and in such cases, the website believes that Samsung "may be in the final stages of testing a new software update".
On the other hand, The Gamer's Drop said that other Samsung models such as the Galaxy Tab S2, S6 Edge and Note 5 are next in line to receive the Nougat update. This is in line with Samsung's recent push of the Galaxy Beta Program that tested the new OS to some of its flagship Smartphones. Likewise, it added that the Galaxy S6 Active, S6 Ironman and S6 Edge + will soon get their Nougat dose after the S7 and S7 Edge have received their fair share. There's no final date on when they will receive the update, but "soon" is a high probablity.
Morning News USA meanwhile reported that the beta version of the Nougat Operating System on the S7 and S7 Edge included some "minor setbacks". According to users, the Nougat trial "nullifies certain features" on their devices, including disabling the support for Samsung Gear VR.
Users of the flagship Smartphone said that they cannot pair their handhelds with the Gear VR - the incompatibility, the website added, is rooted on the fact the the Oculus Store "has yet to receive the Android 7.0 Nougat treatment." These setbacks were predetermined by Samsung when they announced the Galaxy Beta Program; glitches and "unexpected errors" will be present since the Nougat trial is not the official OS.
