Amazon Echo Specs News: ‘Alexa’ Now Knows 60,000 Recipes; AI Personal Assistants Getting Smarter?

Intelligent personal assistants have since greatly improved since the first version of Apple's Siri came out in 2011. Now, Amazon's "Alexa" not only helps keep things organized, but the AI assistant is now capable of helping in the kitchen with her new 60,000 recipes.

According to the Verge, Amazon's Alexa gets her recipes from "Allrecipes," a social networking site focused on food-making and personal recipes. Amazon Echo users can download Alexa's new skill from the Alexa app in their smartphone.

Amazon's Alexa will be able to help users find the right recipe to cook, searching through the multitudes of recipe base on ingredients at hand or the dish's name. Also, Amazon Echo users can ask the AI assistant to help them cook the dish, providing a step-by-step guide on how to cook. Users can control Amazon's Alexa via voice command if they need her to repeat an instruction or to move forward.

IBtimes reported that Amazon's Alexa's new skill is available on Alexa-enabled devices like the Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, or Amazon Fire TV. Other than helping in the kitchen, Amazon's Alexa has a myriad of other skills such as hailing a cab, ordering pizza, or even playing music. Recently, Amazon's Alexa was fitted by AT&T with the skill to allow Alexa users to send text messages hands-free.

Aside from Amazon's Alexa, other personal assistants like Google's "Google Assitant" and Apple's "Siri" are gearing up with skills that can help users with their daily tasks and help improve management of daily activities. For example, Apple's Siri can make restaurant reservations, update twitter and Facebook statuses, and even check traffic.

As for Google's "Google Assistant," the AI assistant can engage in a two-way conversation rather than just take orders. This means that users can follow-up with questions without Google Assistant getting confused with its ability to understand context and respond appropriately.
