A toddler saved his diabetic dad by force feeding him yogurt upon collapsing on the floor, according to reports. It should have brought the father to diabetic coma if not because of the heroic act of the young son.
Lenny-George Jones, three years old, reportedly grabbed two Muller Crunch Corners from the fridge of his home in Manchester, Droylsden when his dad collapsed. He dragged over his little blue chair to stand on.
The toddler managed to feed his 34-year-old dad, Mark, have just enough to get his sugar levels up. He later got the least energy he needed to get his glucose tablets, which has saved him from a diabetic coma.
Mum Emma, 31, could not be "prouder" of little Lenny, as she told the Manchester Evening News the story that happened on November 13. Lenny is a hero for Emma.
Mark has type 1 diabetes, and he takes insulin four times a day. Emma needed to nip to her mom's when the incident happened. She left Mark and Lenny watching CBeebies together.
Emma was out for about 30 minutes, and when she got back, they were lying on the sofa where Mark did not look very well. When Emma asked what happened, Lenny just turned to Emma and said "I saved daddy," and the dad agreed.
"Mark had collapsed and woken up on the kitchen floor after he had a hypo and Lenny was feeding him yogurt that he'd managed to get from the fridge." Mirror News quoted Emma as saying. "How he'd got them out of the refrigerator, I have no idea, but his little blue wooden chair was next to it so it looked like he'd dragged it over to stand on it." She added.
Emma said that Mark's sugar levels were down to 1.1 when she got home. The normal levels for him were between four and seven.
It was not clear where the toddler learned about giving the 'first aid' that he did to dad. Emma explained that neither she nor plasterer Mark has taught the son to tell about Mark's condition and what to do in case something like this happened.
