"Overwatch" villains are getting beefed up by developer Blizzard Entertainment, with the addition of new and mysterious character. Is news of this new "Overwatch" character indication that the Blizzard is about to get more challenging?
"Overwatch" was released by Blizzard by mid 2016. To say that "Overwatch" is a popular Blizzard Entertainment offering would be an understatement. Certainly "Overwatch" has only grown more popular over a relatively short period of time.
Dedicated post-release support by Blizzard is partly to thank here. "Overwatch" players get new maps, new characters, competitive mode and the arcade regularly. Not to mention that Blizzard gives the game such events as those on the the Olympic-themed Summer Games and Halloween as well as continual improvements.
Just as importantly, "Overwatch" has numerous heroes and their lore that keep players coming back for more. Recently former American football player and actor Terry Crews (of Fox's "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" and Sylvester Stallone's "The Expendables" series) took up PC gaming as a hobby. Terry Crews seems to be very much on the "Overwatch" bandwagon.
In the previous weekend, Terry Crews gushed on "Overwatch" on Facebook and insisted gamers try out the latest free weekend, which was part of activities that Blizzard occasionally runs to promote "Overwatch." What was interesting though was how Terry Crews attributed enthusiasm to being a part of the voice talent for "Overwatch." Terry Crews, in particular, is linked to character Doomfist - who may be either be unseen "Overwatch" hero or villain.
We've not got an official confirmation from Terry Crews himself, although Imgur cites fan interaction concerning Doomfist and "Overwatch." However, it would be something worth seeing for "Overwatch" fans and newcomers alike.
Doomfist was first referenced in the "Overwatch" cinematic trailer at Blizzcon 2015. This was when Blizzard first publicized "Overwatch."
Doomfist was mentioned to have the ability to flatten a skyscraper with one punch. The macguffin in the short-film was Doomfist's gauntlet. The payload in Numbani's map is the same gauntlet. Also on the map, banners inside the museum can be seen of the various iterations of Doomfist from the past with a question mark over his future.
Although Blizzard has stated that Doomfist was only created for the promotional film, "Overwatch" fan feedback was great. So much so that they said they will be considering Doomfist as a playable hero.
