Overwatch Heroes News, Release, Latest Update: Blizzard Hero Symmetra V2 In Coming PTR? More Major Updates Releasing Early 2017?

"Overwatch" game director Jeff Kaplan confirmed updates coming from Blizzard including Version 2.0 of Support hero Symmetra. Jeff Kaplan officially announced to the "Overwatch" community that updates to the overwhelmingly successful team shooter are coming soon.

As seen on the PlayOverwatch channel on YouTube, first on the list is the promised versatility improvements by Blizzard on Symmetra. Blizzard gathered from "Overwatch" user play data that Symmetra was only really used in specific circumstances. For example "Overwatch" players bank on Symmetra for the first wave of defence on a control map.

To address this, the next "Overwatch" PTR patch (which Jeff Kaplan says is due quite soon) will include Symmetra V2. The changes are numerous and Symmetra V2 is the biggest change an "Overwatch" hero has seen yet.

Firstly, Symmetra V2 will have the option to toggle between two "Overwatch" ultimates. In addition to the "Overwatch" hero's teleporter, Symmetra V2 can now deploy a shield generator that will buff teammates with a new and more powerful version of the current shields she deploys.

This shield generator can be hidden well out of sight for strategic advantage. The original ultimate of Symmetra, the teleporter and the new shield generator will be buffed with additional health and regenerating shields to give the team stronger incentive toward protection.

Other significant changes coming with Symmetra V2 includes a six-turret limit from the start (instead of the previous three) allowing for quicker deployments and repositioning. "Overwatch" players will find that primary fire will also get a slightly longer range.

Another major change in Symmetra V2 is how the "Overwatch" hero's standard shield deployment works. Currently each teammate must be highlighted and a shield applied. Symmetra V2 will fire a new "photon barrier" instead of the traditional shields - a kind of moving version of Reinhardt's shields in an attempt to introduce more team play.

Also shortly after the "Overwatch" revamp on Symmetra in the PTR will be the new "Overwatch" Oasis map which Blizzard hopes to release as 2017 begins. As mentioned in Blizzcon 2016, the new Oasis map will introduce jump pads - a device Blizzard wantß to introduce with future maps and new "Overwatch" heroes.

"Overwatch" is currently available on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Which "Overwatch" update are you looking out for?
