For Samsung fans who are waiting for the brand's upcoming large-screen smartphones, the wait won't be long as Samsung will have its second Unpacked event of the year on Thursday, August 13, at Lincoln Center in New York. The event will start at 11:00 a.m. ET, but doors will open at 10:00 a.m., according to CNET.
Although the South Korean electronic giant remains mum about the gadgets that they will be launching, the report suggests that it will be introducing widescreen phones, which include the stylus-toting, multitasking phablet with a metal back, Galaxy Note 5. The company will also likely exhibit a new Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, which comes with a 5.7-inch screen curving over on both of its sides as rumors insinuate.
For those interested with the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, here are some of its specs as confirmed by Android Authority. The curved big-screen device will indeed have a 5.67-inch screen with a Super AMOLED Quad HD display. The handset will be powered by an Exynos 7420 octa-core processor with an impressive 4GB RAM. Moreover, aside from having a huge system memory, it comes with a 32 GB internal storage, which is unfortunately not expandable.
It also comes with a five-megapixel front facing camera and 16-megapixel rear camera with 4K Ultra HD video recording. Its camera also features flash, optical image stabilization, face detection, autofocus, touch to focus, geo-tagging, exposure compensation, ISO control, white balance presets, burst mode, high dynamic range mode, panorama and effects, PhoneArena has learned.
Aside from its excellent memory capacity and great camera, it also comes with LTE Cat 6 offering 300 Mbps download speeds, Wi-Fi n/ac, Bluetooth v4.1, NFC and a fingerprint sensor. The highly anticipated smartphone will run in Android 5.1 Lollipop and will come with Samsung Pay, per Android Authority.
In a separate report from Android Authority, it suggests that mobile payment is the next big thing in the mobile world. Large mobile OEMs have been joining the trend in the mCommerce. Samsung will not allow itself to be left behind and is set to follow the footsteps of Apple, which already have Apple Pay. Hence, Samsung will be launching its Samsung Pay service.
Too excited to get a hold of Galaxy S6 Edge Plus? According to Engadget, the company's French site has a pre-order page for Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, which shows a Level Bluetooth headset in a bundle available for order between August 21 and September 3, suggesting the possibility that it will be launched on August 21 and will be released in the stores on September 4. However, Engadget mentioned that the dates could apply strictly to the bundle and not to the phone itself.
