NBA News & Trade Rumors: Oklahoma City Thunder Looking To Acquire Rudy Gay Of Sacramento Kings

As the teams are still finalizing their rotations early on in the 2016-17 NBA season, rumors with regard to the Oklahoma City Thunder looking to get bigger on the wings surfaced. The latest speculations suggest that the Thunder is looking to acquire veteran wing man, Rudy Gay from the Sacramento Kings to team up with Rusell Westbrook and bolster the team's offense.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, the Thunder was allegedly already interested in the Kings' veteran small forward even before the start of the 2016-17 NBA season. In the meantime, the Thunder is purportedly still interested in Gay along with other wingmen around the NBA, as per ESPN.

Getting bigger on the wings will supposedly grant the Thunder to move players to optimal positions. If the idea comes to being, Victor Oladipo can come off the bench as the Thunder's sixth man, and carry on a heavier ball-handling task. Additionally, it will allow Andre Roberson to reoccupy the starting shooting guard spot.

The Thunder previously lost superstar Kevin Durant in free agency and is left with Roberson and Jerami Grant in the small forward position. Both players can provide the Thunder with defensive flair, but Durant's move affected the team's offense the most.

Ananth Pandian of CBS Sports reports that Gay is likely interested in moving because of internal management issues in Sacramento, along with Coach Dave Joerger's alleged inability to guide key players. The Kings' big man, Demarcus Cousins has also been the topic of trade rumors as of late for the same reasons.

Gay is currently averaging 20.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game in the 2016-17 NBA season. If he does move to Oklahoma, his addition will supposedly boost the Thunder's offense.

Gay was drafted eighth overall in the 2006 NBA Draft and had previously played for the Memphis Grizzlies and the Toronto Raptors. Do you think he will be moving to Oklahoma before the trade deadline?
