Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt will be offering the newest adaptation of the Marvel Comics, "Passengers" this Christmas. Its director is Mortem Tyldum, an Oscar-nominated filmmaker. The movie is about transporting of a spacecraft of thousands of passengers in their sleep chambers to a distant colony.
On a routine journey to their new home, two of the passengers, sleeping, are awakened 90 years too early. They are supposed to be in sleep for about 120 years until they reach their new home planet. But through some problems, both of their sleep chambers opened; as a result, they are forced to wake up.
The story will focus on two main characters: Chris Pratt's Jim and Jennifer Lawrence's Aurora. Jim is a mechanic whose skills and talents are "obsolete" while Lawrence's character is about a "brainy" author from New York who boards the Starship Avalon. While the two find solace in each other's company, a second ship malfunctioned putting all the passengers at risk, leaving only these two awake to seek help.
Sony Pictures Entertainment Chairman Tom Rothman praised the performances of Pratt and Lawrence at CinemaCon. According to Rothman, in his three decades of riding celluloid trail, he has never seen an actress like Lawrence of such strength.
The director of the film, Tyldum, had a similarly positive comment of the actors, calling the "Passengers" this "Generation's love story." Viewers will laugh, cry and will hold your seat. It has chills. It also will make you smile and laugh a lot. We wanted a playful movie," Tyldum said.
In this day of sequels and reboots, I think it is refreshing that it is completely original story with two of the huge movie stars in the world. "Passengers" is tagged by its producers as "Adam and Eve in Space" and "having the after-taste of Titanic - but everyone lives." What do you think? Share them bellow.
