Latest NBA News: Five-Player Deal Involving New Orleans Pelicans’ Anthony Davis And Toronto Raptors’ Terrence Ross

The NBA basketball league is quickly approaching midway the season and interesting trade news are just heating up wherein a potential five-player deal is proposed between the New Orleans Pelicans and Toronto Raptors.

Based on the latest NBA trade reports, All-star power forward, Anthony Davis of the Pelicans will be traded to the Raptors in exchange for their versatile frontcourt composed of Terrence Ross, Jonas Valanciunas, DeMarre Carroll and a first round draft pick. While this move will benefit the Raptors in a massive way, the Pelicans will also be getting a lot from the players involved.

The Toronto Raptors started this season on a high note with a 10-6 win-loss record. The Raptors are just coming from a shocking season last year where they were placed 2nd overall in the East standings and played in the Eastern Conference Finals after 21 years. They fell short of the Finals opportunity as they were outlasted by the Cleveland Cavaliers. This time, the Raptors look to bounce back as they seek revenge against the defending NBA champions.

Although the Raptors are equipped with arguably one of the best backcourt in the league with Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan, their pieces may not be enough to topple down the strong offensive front court of the Cavaliers. Currently, DeRozan is having a breakout season as he is scoring at a high level with 30.2 points per game, grabbing 5.3 rebounds, dishing 4.1 assists and snatching 1.4 steals per matchup. Despite this, the Raptors need a legitimate big man that can battle it out with the best of the East and having Anthony Davis from the Pelicans will surely provide that much-needed help.

Just like DeRozan, the 3-time All-star, Davis is also having his own hot start this season wherein he is averaging a double-double with 31.3 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks per game. He is arguably one of the top five players in the league now, but unfortunately, his team is not clicking right now.

Unlike the Raptors, the Pelicans are struggling to get victories this season despite Davis putting up big numbers. The reason could be a lack of supporting cast that will contribute to the offensive plays of the team.

If Davis will be sent to the East and play for the Raptors, they will get a much needed offensive and defensive boost that can match up with the Cavaliers. It is also said that it is better for him to play for the East as the West gets tougher and tougher. When this possible trade pushes through, the Raptors have a huge chance to defeat the Cavaliers and may make them the favorites to win the Finals this year.

Although there are no final reports on this matter yet, fans will be excited whether both teams will be serious in sealing this deal. For now, all players remain in their respective teams and will look to contribute as much as they can to get more victories.
