Samsung Galaxy S8 Latest News, Updates To Include First 8GB LPDDR4 DRAM Package?

There are tons of rumors about Samsung's next flagship smartphone Galaxy S8, and quite frankly, most of them contradict one another. But while most offer interesting features and specifications, one that caught the attention of many tech analysts is Samsung's introduction of the first '8GB LPDDR4 DRAM' package.

Will 8GB LPDDR4 DRAM Package be integrated on Samsung Galaxy S8?

"The advent of our powerful 8GB mobile DRAM solution will enable more capable next-generation, flagship mobile devices around the world," Samsung EVP for Memory Sales and Marketing Joo Sun Choi said via Samsung Newsroom. This is not a rumor; this is a fact coming no less than from Samsung's top executives.

In the latest video about this 8GB LPDDR4 DRAM Package, it characterizes everything that is to know about the said technology. As what Choi explained, "We will continue to provide advanced memory solutions offering the highest values and leading-edge benefits to meet the escalating need of devices having a dual camera, 4K UHD and VR features."

The timing of the announcement coincides with the rumbling about the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 fiasco, thus, it might not have been accorded the spotlight usually given to this technological breakthroughs. Yet, given the timing of the said announcement, will this '8GB LPDDR4 DRAM Package' be included on the next flagship smartphone of Samsung, Galaxy S8?

The Power of 8GB LPDDR4 DRAM Package

As explained by Samsung, this 8GB LPDDR4 technology can operate at up to 4,266 megabits per second (Mbps). Compared to a normal PC memory, it is twice as fast as DDR4 DRAM which normally runs at 2,133Mbps per pin. This actually translates to over 34GBs of data per second for x64 memory bus.

With 8GB LPDDR4 integrated, Samsung hopes to enable virtual machine operation, smoother 4K UHD video playback, and other heavy-memory features. And with the latest 10nm-class process technology, it brings power consumption efficiency feature plus Samsung's proprietary low-power circuit design that will definitely bring more battery life to Galaxy S8 should Samsung decide to integrate it.
