A toddler has been brought by her mom to Syria to become an ISIS fighter. On 2014, Tareena Shakil flew to Syria together with her 14-month-old son to escape the cruelty of life and live an average Muslim life. However, when she went back to UK, she was arrested in Heathrow by British authorities for the allegation of conniving with a terrorist group called ISIS. During the trial, it was found out that the mother has embraced her role in supplying future fighters.
"Most alarmingly you took your toddler son to Syria knowing how he would be used," BBC News quoted the judge in Birmingham Crown Court as saying. "You embraced your role in providing fighters of the future."
Photos of Tareena Shakil showed her child wearing a balaclava with ISIS symbol and her posing next to an AK-47 assault rifle. The mother was convicted of joining with ISIS terrorist group and sentenced up to six years of detention. During the trial, her story was unfolded, and the truth started to crop up.
In 2014, Tareena Shakil begun to search Syria and talk to members of ISIS through social media after her marriage failed. An ISIS member told her that she would go to hell if she stays in UK and she should move to Syria and live under Islamic law. On October 20, 2014, she went with her son to Syria.
Once there, they were escorted by representatives of ISIS in an apartment in Gaziantep city, near to the border with Syria. The next day they were transferred to an enclosed "mansion" where she and the toddler lived.
The following weeks, Shakil sent her friends and family some messages telling that she and her son were happy and settled. In one of her messages, she wrote "this is my jihad" and encouraged people to support ISIS.
However, she became frightened and disheartened after the reality of living in Syria hit her. She said she left the mansion on January 6 with her youngster. The two went back to the United Kingdom but the mother was arrested at Heathrow after she was accused of having an association with the terrorist group.
Today, she is facing charges of joining the group of the terrorist known as ISIS. Mail Online has reported that Shakil received £132,000 to help her fight her case in the court. The report noted that a total of £72,875 was given to her lawyer, £53,918 to her defender and £5,909 to pay disbursements.
