Guillermo del Toro Lashed Out Against Konami For Canceling 'Silent Hills' But Praised Hideo Kojima’s award and 'Death Stranding'

The multi-awarded director Guillermo del Toro lashed out on Konami after Hideo Kojima's upcoming game "Death Stranding" debuted during the Game Awards 2016 last Friday night. The writer and director of "Pacific Rim" was unhappy of Konami's decision to cancel "Silent Hills."

According to a report from VideoGamer, the "Pacific Rim" director took to Twitter and quoted a tweet from the Game Awards 2016 featuring a link to the "Death Stranding" trailer. Guillermo del Toro didn't hold back and selected his words specifically for the Japanese Entertainment Company: "F**k Konami."

Previously, the multi-awarded director Guillermo del Toro and Hideo Kojima were working on the "Silent Hills" game and Konami was to publish it. However, Konami canceled the game despite it being announced via one of the company's viral marketing stunts, releasing the mysterious horror "game" PT, which was also pulled out from PlayStation stores, per Polygon. "The Walking Dead" actor Norman Reedus was supposed to star in the now-cancelled "Silent Hills."

Apparently, Guillermo del Toro was never over of Konami's cancellation of the game. Even though Guillermo del Toro was lashing out on Konami, he still praised his friend Hideo Kojima after bagging the Industry Icon award via a Twitter post. The multi-awarded director del Toro was not able to attend the show after being blocked by Konami, as reported by GameSpot.

Meanwhile, Konami admitted that they remain "committed to new Silent Hills titles." The company even added that "Silent Hills" is still in the "embryonic" stage.

Don't forget to watch the trailer of Hideo Kojima's upcoming game "Death Stranding" featuring the multi-awarded director himself Guillermo del Toro and the "Hannibal" actor Mads Mikkelsen.
