Critics bullied Apple immediately when they decided to ditch the headphone jack on the latest iPhone. Suffice to say, it did carry a negative baggage that, until know, haunts Cupertino in one way or another. Now, another iconic staple is about to disappear from the face of Apple's upcoming devices.
According to a source, Apple is planning to remove the Home button from the front real estate of the next generation iPads and iPhones in lieu of "one seamless display" and to apparently boost the user's viewing capacity. Another vital information points to the 10.9inch iPad Pro as the "first iOS device" since its inception in 2010 to go Home button-less.
The question now is where will Apple place the functions of the Home button? The company gave the button a fingerprint sensor to boost its security measures and use the Apple Pay. Now that they're contemplating to do away with it, word has it that its "functionality might be placed beneath the front display". Hence, the entire façade of the new iPad will be cleaner, wider and completely button-free.
Another source familiar with the matter also said that a new iPad Air 3 will be revealed by Apple in March 2017. While there have been a ton of speculations about Apple discontinuing the Air family and concentrate more on their Pro and Air DNA, recent development claim that the company will be releasing what seems to be "the last ever Air-branded tablet".
The source also added that the iPad Air 3 will carry an A9X chip, 3GB of RAM, a 13megapixel rear camera with LED flash. Moreover, the slab will retain its 32GB onboard storage as its entry point, alongside an iOS 9 Operating System which will make the iPad Air 3 "eligible for upgrades". It is also rumored to measure in at 9.7inches and 6.1mm thick with 2K resolution and Touch ID protocol.
