It has been nine years since the first "Avatar" movie and the talks of a sequel have also been too long; until finally, news about an "Avatar" script came out last September.
According to Variety, Sigourney Weaver was happy to say that she was able to read the three scripts and says that in her opinion, the new scripts are exceptional. Weaver continues to say that the first "Avatar" movie was more of establishing the world, the family, and relationships and now that it has been established, James Cameron gets to play with it - which adds up to it being more interesting. She was able to read three scripts which make the "Avatar" franchise a quadrilogy in the making.
Not much detail about the plot of the story was revealed yet but at least the rumors of the so-called sequel have a script already. There is also no movement in terms of its production because James Cameron has been focused on writing the scripts for "Avatars" 2, 3 and 4.
In an article by Esquire, it was said that the scheduled release of "Avatar 2" would be in December 2018 and the rest of the sequels will soon follow on December 2020, 2022 and 2023. But nothing has been filmed yet even on an impending release date set on 2018. Avatar fans should also keep in mind that James Cameron had made it clear before that release dates are meant to be moved.
"Avatar" was a technical spectacle and there is no doubt that James Cameron wowed everyone on his creation. On an interview, James Cameron said that he wants to make sure that the sequels would live up to the success of the first one.
