"The Mummy" an adventure movie which first came out in 1999 starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz is a very successful film that gives way to several spin-offs such as "The Mummy Returns" as well as "The Scorpion King." Yet the release of the brief trailer of the newest mummy movie starring Tom Cruise and Annabelle Wallis promises to be better than the other sequels. Furthermore, the upcoming film is only the first of exciting reboots as sequels are also underway for films such as "The Invisible Man" (Johnny Depp), "Van Helsing," and "The Bride of Frankenstein."
According to LA Times, the short movie clip shows the character of Nick Morton (Tom Cruise) and Jenny Halsey (Annabelle Wallis) involve in a plane crash. As the characters plunge down, it seems to suggest that the character of Cruise has died. Yet the next scene will show the "Rock of Ages" actor getting out of the body bag as if he has returned from the dead.
With a tagline "welcome to a new world of gods and monsters" the new "Mummy" film will reportedly have a different twists. As posted in Cine Movie, the film director, Alex Kurtzman revealed that this movie will delve deep into all the characters of the story including that of the ancient princess (Sophia Boutella). This means that aside from heart-stopping scenes, "The Mummy" will also be a psychological thriller.
Meanwhile, Russel Crowe as Dr. Jekyll is part of a group that secretly wishes to bring all monsters to life is said to be a regular character in all of the upcoming films that are lined up in Universal Pictures. Tom Cruise also announced via Twitter with that a full trailer of "The Mummy" will be available starting Sunday.
"The Mummy " movie starring Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis, and Russell Crowe will be released in theaters on Jun. 2017.
