Today Show's co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, 44, excitedly awaits the coming of her baby no. 2 with Michael Feldman. She started her maternity leave in advance of her due date to prepare well. For Guthrie, getting pregnant so late in life is like the greatest embrace from God and to have a second pregnancy is just far. Guthrie is so thankful that she'll have two kids even though she's late in motherhood.
"I'm a person of faith. It feels like the greatest embrace from God that I can imagine, to get to have a baby," People quoted Savannah Guthrie as saying. "And to get to have a second is just beyond," she added.
Savannah Guthrie came to parenthood so late in her life. It was when she was 42 that she found out that she was pregnant with her first child. During that time she was overjoyed and very grateful that at her age she was able to bear a child. She was supposed to be contented with her first child, but Guthrie, as a person of faith, did not give up her hope. Now, she's having her second baby.
In her second pregnancy, Guthrie said she became a bit more disciplined on her ice cream intake and exercise than her first pregnancy. She does her prenatal yoga, low-impact aerobics and eats well all throughout the whole week. She does not drink wine but eats ice cream instead.
She also shared her birth plan for baby no. 2. She said whatever her doctor will say about her birthing process, she's okay with it, whether natural or C-section. She said if she needs a C-section, it will be OK and if she will give birth the natural way that is cool also. Now she's enjoying her maternity leave and just waiting for the baby to come out.
Meanwhile, Guthrie is not alone in her case of giving birth in her 40s. The Health has learned that the number of women conceiving into their 40s and 50s and beyond is at record highs, as per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In 2007, 105,071 moms aged 40-44 gave birth which is the highest rate ever since 1968; the birth rate for moms age 45 - 54 was 7,349, an upsurge of 5% in just one year, the report added.
