Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt First Wedding Anniversary: Couple In Marriage Counseling? [Rumors]

On August 23, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt will be celebrating their first year anniversary as a married couple. But stories that they are in marriage counseling is putting a damper on the pair's long-standing relationship.

Jolie and Pitt have been together for a decade and decided to officially wed quietly last year in France. According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, however, Life & Style Magazine apparently reported that they have been trying to fix problems in their marriage, and that Brad's mother, Jane, pushed them to go into counseling.

"She came down really hard on both of them for not trying hard enough," an insider allegedly told the magazine. "She told them that a lot of the problems that they see as insurmountable - like career conflicts or fighting about where to live, are rich Hollywood problems. Both Brad and Angelina were embarrassed when she called them vain and selfish," the source added.

A few months ago, the couple was also the subject of another story that suggested Brad and Angelina will be divorcing in 2015. "He's the one who's calling time on their marriage. He's told Angie they're over," a source allegedly told InTouch Weekly's July 6 issue, according to Hollywood Life. "He's beyond miserable and wants out."

Gossip Cop, however, slammed the rumors and said that the Life & Style's claim is "very dramatic and untrue." A source told the news outlet that the Jolie-Pitts are not into marriage counseling.

"We work really hard at nurturing our family to make sure that everybody is alright and everyone stays connected," the actress said, according to Hello Magazine. "Maintaining a marriage and raising kids is hard work. You have to really make sure that your work doesn't get in the way. That you don't do something that is going to put too much strain on your family."

It looks like the problems in their marriage are only limited to the movies, as Brad and Angelina are the stars in an upcoming drama about a husband and wife whose marriage is crumbling. "By The Sea" was written and directed by Angelina and the film is a reunion of sorts for the couple, who last made a movie together in 2005.

"By The Sea," a period film set in the '70s, is going to be released in November, according to Entertainment Weekly. "This is a story about a relationship derailed by loss, the tenacity of love, and the path to recovery and acceptance," Angelina's statement about the film said, as the news outlet reported. "It has been a privilege to explore these universal human experiences with such a generous and talented cast and crew."
