HBO has brought three Hollywood superstars together. Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman and & Shailene Woodley will headline the drama series "Big Little Lies," which will begin airing on the cable network in February.
"Big Little Lies" has been described as the mommy version of the teen show "Pretty Little Liars," according to Glamour. The story focuses on a group of competitive mothers from California and there's a murder being investigated. As to who dies and for what reason, the first teaser to "Big Little Lies" gives little hints. However, because of its tone, viewers could easily compare the show to the youth-centric drama series.
In the story, Jane (Woodley) is the new mom with a young boy. She arrives in the posh California town with a big secret. She meets the other moms from her son's school, they jive and yet there is still some air of animosity.
During one event, someone with ties to all three mothers has apparently been murdered. The police then interrogates the parents and in the book, this goes on for chapters and provides snippets on the life of these moms. It looks like it will be the same for the TV series.
"Big Little Lies" is adapted from the 2014 book of the same name, which was written by Liana Moriarty. David E. Kelley has written the TV scripts. Apart from the three leads, the show also stars Alexander Skarsgård, Zoe Kravitz and Laura Dern, Deadline reports.
The show will deliver only seven episodes, which have all been directed by Jean-Marc Vallé. He and Reese Witherspoon previously worked together in the movie "Wild." The actress and Kidman are also producers of the show.
Catch the premiere of "Big Little Lies" on HBO on Sunday, Feb. 19. Keep checking back to this site for the updates and news.
