'Deadpool 2' News And Updates: Lead Star Ryan Reynolds Talks Reason Behind New Director Being Chosen For Sequel

Actor Ryan Reynolds explained in a recent interview why they had to choose another director for the production of "Deadpool 2." The sequel of "Deadpool" is expected to be out sometime in 2018.

"Deadpool" was a huge hit this year after it was released in February and earned $132 million during its opening then grossed $782 million worldwide. "Deadpool" centers on the red leather suit wearing character Wade Wilson.

While talking with Entertainment Weekly, Reynolds said that they are still in the development stage of "Deadpool 2" but they are about to move into production. Reynolds is the Entertainer of the Year of Entertainment Weekly. Reynolds also revealed that they are casting for Cable and another woman for the telekinetic female character Domino.

However, Reynolds said it has not been a smooth transition for the production of "Deadpool 2." The director for "Deadpool," Tim Miller, recently announced that he will no longer be taking part in the sequel due to creative differences. Reynolds has nothing but high praises for Miller saying that there is no other human being on earth that worked harder for "Deadpool" other than Miller. Reynolds said that the director is incredibly talented.

The husband of Blake Lively continued to say that "Deadpool 2" will now be directed by David Leitch. Reynolds said that everyone on the "Deadpool" team is a fan of Leitch's work as he understands where the franchise needs to be taken from the freshman run of the flick, Cinema Blend reported.

As for what to expect on "Deadpool 2," producer Simon Kinberg said that they are aiming to keep the sequel not far from the original but pointed out that they want the sequel to be as startling and as provocative as the first flick. He said that "Deadpool 2" cannot just be a continuation of "Deadpool" as it needs to be fresh and original.

"Deadpool 2" has no official release date yet. It is expected to arrive by 2018.
