Few weeks prior to the premiere, the trailer for "Shadowhunters" season 2 has just been released, teasing an explosive plot. Fans of Magnun (Harry Shum Jr.), Alec (Matthew Daddario), Clary (Katherine McNamara) and Jace (Dominic Sherwood) can expect the new season to feature more death and destruction as emphasized in the trailer.
"Shadowhunters" season 2 will premiere with episode titled "This Guilty Blood" on Jan. 2, 2017. The synopsis for episode 1 teases the desperation of Clary, Alec and Isabelle (Emeraude Toubia) to locate Jace. Things get worst when Jace left the Institute with Valentine (Alan Van Sprang).
However, finding Jace will not be easy for Clary, Alec and Isabelle as Victor Aldertree (Nick Sagar), the new head of New York Institute, will intervene. The premiere episode of "Shadowhunters" season 2 will feature the debut of Victor in the series. Victor will do everything to bring back the former glory of the Institute.
The synopsis posted by comicbook also reveals Jocelyn is already awake and will have to catch up on a lot of things. It seems that she will not be happy with her reunion with Clary, knowing her daughter is now a shadowhunter.
Meanwhile, the trailer begins with the shadowhunters discussing Valentine's scheme to raise up Jace. The next scenes detail Valentine is already training Jace.
In the trailer, one particular scene shows Jace is forced to do something against his will. Fans can see Jace saying he does not want to hurt anybody.
Furthermore, the trailer teased the love team of Malec. One scene depicts a sweet instance between Alec and Magnus, while trying to overcome relationship trials.

Season 2 will also feature more of the maturity of Clary as another scene also focuses on Jocelyn and Clary. The latter tells her mother that she does not need her protection anymore. However, Jocelyn will warn her daughter, "You think you understand this world, but you don't." This plot has been revealed previously when showrunner Todd Slavkin told Entertainment Weekly that one of the themes for season 2 of "Shadowhunters" would be focused on relationships. Fans of "Shadowhunters" can expect season 2 to explore more on character development.
