It's another exciting time for "New Girl" actor Max Greenfield as he and his wife, Tess Sanchez, welcome the birth of their second child on Monday, Aug. 24.
According to E! News, the baby, whom they named Ozzie James, weighed six lbs., 12 oz upon birth. Both the mother and infant are "doing great."
The couple, who married in 2008, already have a daughter, Lilly, born in 2010. Now five years old, her dad can't wait to see Lilly do her big sister duties. "We're really hoping that she can pick up some of the responsibility slack. We're going to put her to work and we're going to see how well that goes," the actor joked, according to Us Weekly.
Tess' pregnancy was announced back in April when the actor was in the midst of shooting for the new season of "New Girl." The show won't return on Fox until midseason, but the cast had to film early to accommodate lead star Zooey Deschanel's pregnancy. Incidentally, the actress and her husband, Jacob Pechenik, recently announced the birth of their baby girl too, as previously reported by Parent Herald.
Meanwhile, on the show, Greenfield's character, Schmidt, is set to marry Cece (played by Hannah Simone) in the upcoming season, but the wedding planning will hit some setbacks. "I think we'll see some Groom-zilla," said the actor, according to Entertainment Weekly.
He also shared what viewers can expect from the arrival of Cece's mom (played by Anna George). "She comes in on the fly and wants to meet this guy. She isn't thrilled with Schmidt. Schmidt is stressed out. He wants to make this thing work," the actor shared.
Work on "New Girl" is currently on hiatus as Zooey is taking her maternity break, but while that is happening, Max has taken a guest starring role on "American Horror Story: Hotel," according to E! Online.
To prepare for the role, the actor lost weight and dyed his hair blond. According to Zap2it, Max plays a junkie in the horror anthology. Producer Ryan Murphy said that Greenfield's character is in the "center of the most disturbing scene we've ever done," the news outlet reported. The actor was committed to the role and pushed himself.
"I've always loved him as an actor, I love him in "New Girl," Murphy said. "I always just wanted to work with him. He's been doing comedy and I said, 'I have a feeling that you can and want to do something really f***ed up,' and he said, 'How did you know?'"
