Why ‘2017 Golden Globe Awards’ Missed The Following TV Series? ‘Gilmore Girls, ‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, And ‘Orange Is The New Black’

With the recent announcement from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, everybody is now talking about the "74th Golden Globe Awards" list of nominees. The list which features the best in Hollywood film and TV this 2016 includes movies and celebrities that people are expecting such as "La La Land," and "Manchester by the Sea," along with Emma Stone and Natalie Portman. Yet eyeball rolled with several surprising nominations and eyebrows raised because the award-giving body seem to have missed notable TV shows such as "Gilmore Girls," "Orange Is The New Black," and "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt."

According to ABC News, it was a pleasant surprise to see newcomers in the TV series genre such as Mandy Moore ("This is Us") and Issa Rae ("Insecure"). The new TV show, "This Is Us" is also one of the new shows that got surprising nominations. Yet folks are likewise quick to notice why Chrissy Metz and all other male stars from the NBC series got snubbed.

Other surprising nominations are from Netflix shows which include John Lithgow and Claire Foy from "The Crown" and Winona Ryder of "Stranger Things." While many nominated actors expressed happiness by being noticed by the "Golden Globe Awards," the public is also sulking over other shows and celebrities that failed to impress the foreign press association.

One of it is "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" which despite of exemplary performances from Kelly Bishop and Lauren Graham did not even get a single nomination. What many view as the best comedy series of today, "Orange is the New Black" and "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt did not came up in the list of nominees as well.

Since many expressed bewilderment over the snubbing of the said shows, a post from E Online tried to explain the reason why "Golden Globe Awards" took some great TV series out of their list. The article theorized that the sheer number of TV series today may have made it necessary for the press association to filter their list. So maybe the said shows will still be recognized but in another award-giving body.
