‘Riverdale’ Spoilers: Luke Perry Labelled It As ‘Very 21st-century’; Learn Why!

Spoilers for "Riverdale" are now circulating, teasing that fans of the teenage mystery drama can expect more mysteries. Also, Luke Perry (playing the role of Archie's father) labeled "Riverdale" as "very 21st century."

The trailer begins with Archie Andrews (played by KJ Apa) and his forbidden romance with Ms. Gundry (played by Sarah Habel), the school's young music teacher. Then scenes flashed the death of Jason Blossom, the high school golden boy, and the plot revolves around the tragic murder.

Elsewhere, fans can see Jughead Jones (played by Cole Sprouse), the buddy of Archie, becoming distraught over the tragic death of Jason. Jughead is also described as a budding writer, Collider reported.

In another report, Archie's forbidden relationship with Ms. Grundy has ended suddenly. Fans will see Archie groping in the dark, with no mentor to rely on, as he pursues his career in music, SlashFilm noted.

"Riverdale" also stars "Beverly Hills 90210" alum Luke Perry as the father of Archie. The actor admitted that he was sort of skeptical when he was told to play the role of Archie's father. Thanks to his agent who insisted that he check out first the script, and once he did, he just uttered "Wow" and was amazed at the storyline.

Luke Perry told TVLine that "Riverdale" speaks about the actual heart and mind of kids nowadays. The actor claimed the show is very different from the other teenage shows.

Luke Perry even labeled "Riverdale" as "very 21st-century" because it features an emo blogger Jughead and Veronica as a teenager struggling to transition from being a Mean Girl to a BFF. The show will also feature Archie as a wholesome guy, yet you would ought not to know what he has done last summer.

The "Beverly Hills 90210" alum was also asked to compare "Riverdale" with his previous teenage show. Luke Perry said there are things that his former show could not do that "Riverdale" was able to show it on air.

Meanwhile, the trailer teased "Darker secrets," suggesting fans can expect more mysteries enveloped in the tragedies that will be featured in the show. The promo clip also seems to tease that Archie is involved in the dark secrets. Does he know who killed Jason Blossom?
