The first ever Steam Awards finally concluded with 10 games taking home honors in 12 categories. For almost a month of voting from Seam fans, Valve released the winners' list last Dec. 31, 2016, at 1 p.m. PT or 4 p.m. ET.
The Steam Awards is not your average awards ceremony. The games or nominees are voted by Steam users. For users to participate and vote for Valve's first ever awards event, they received a Steam Awards Trading Card. Initially, Valve opened the awards event with only 8 categories. But they decided to add 4 more categories during the last minute.
Voting spanned from Dec. 22 to Dec. 29. The amazing categories for fans to vote included "Villain Most In Need Of A Hug," "'The Whoooaaaaaaa, dude!' Award," "I Thought This Game Was Cool Before It Won An Award," "Game Within A Game," and many more.
